Description

This is a VERY RARE original 6 x 8 inch press photo of Olympic champion swimmer and Hollywood newcomer, JOHNNY WEISSMULLER showing off his physical perfection in this rare slice of beefcake to promote the role created by Edgar Rice Burroughs. You can see in the image that Weissmuller is wearing a different style of loincloth then the one he would finally wear in the film. This portrait pre-dates his debut in MGM’s, “TARZAN, THE APE MAN” (1932) by five months. The back of the photo is dated Oct.31, 1931 (Halloween) and the film debuted in New York City the following year in March.25, 1932. Well Documented Photo!
