This is a RARE original 8 x 10 inch full length publicity portrait of Hollywood starlet, YVONNE DE CARLO showcasing her fabulous form in this skimpy two-piece outfit. A western style cheesecake pose for her uncredited role in Universal Pictures 1944 film, “RAINBOW ISLAND”. Portrait by BUD FRAKER. Photographers Stamp on verso. In real life she was a skilled horsewoman and appeared in a number of west coast rodeo’s during the 1930’s and 1940’s. She obtained her breakthrough role in Universal Pictures 1945 film, “Salome, Where She Danced”. The film was produced by Walter Wanger, who described her as “the most beautiful girl in the world”. The film’s publicity and success turned  her into a Hollywood star and she signed a five year contract with Universal. In 1945 Variety named her one of the three “Top New Hollywood Stars of 1945”, along with Elizabeth Scott and Lauren Bacall. From that point on, she starred in lavish Technicolor productions, such as “Frontier Gal” (1945), “Song of Scheherazade” (1947) and “Slave Girl” (1947). Cameraman voted her the “Queen of Technicolor” three years in a row. She became tired of being typecast for portraying exotic women and made her first serious dramatic performances in two film-noir, “Brute Force” (1947) and “Criss Cross” (1949).
