This is a RARE original 8 x 10 inch R.K.O publicity portrait of sexy starlet, LINDA CHRISTIAN as “Mara” , the Island maiden. Publicity for R.K.O’s 1948 film, “TARZAN AND THE MERMAIDS” , starring Johnny Weissmuller and Brenda Joyce. Linda Christian was considered the first “Bond Girl” , appearing in the 1954 TV adaptation of the Bond Novel, “Casino Royale”. The back of the photo has a R.K.O Studio Stamp dated 1947. There is also a Paper Caption from the “Rickie Sorensen Library Collection”. RICKIE SORENSEN was a child star during the 1950’s-60’s. He starred in two Tarzan films, “Tarzan Fight for Life” (1958) as “Tartu” , Tarzan’s adopted son and “Tarzan and the Trappers” (1958) as the “Boy”. He was a great collector of Tarzan stills and this rare image is from his private collection. The photo is in FINE to VERY FINE condition with some corner and surface wear from handling.
