This is a VERY RARE original circa 1957, 4.75 x 9.5 inch borderless Photo Card of Italian bombshell, SOPHIA LOREN and blonde bombshell, JAYNE MANSFIELD. PHOTO by JOE SHERE.
This Photo Card was to Advertise Joe Shere Photography at Movieland Studio’s in Los Angeles with the tagline, “With competitive thinking…. we can bring out the most in your client’s product” (referencing Mansfield’s assets).

This iconic image was taken in 1957 by photographer Joe Shere. It was taken at a Beverly Hills party to officially welcome Sophia Loren to Hollywood. The Italian bombshell found her spotlight unexpectedly stolen by Jayne Mansfield’s plunging neckline that left nothing to the imagination!

Sophia Loren was interviewed by Entertainment Weekly and was quoted in saying, “Paramount had organized a party for me. All of cinema was there, it was incredible. And then comes in Jayne Mansfield, the last one to come. For me, that was when it got amazing… she came right for my table. She knew everyone was watching. She sat down. And now, she was barely… listen. Look at the picture. Where are my eyes? I’m staring at her nipples because I am afraid they are about to come onto my plate. In my face you can see the fear. I’m so frightened that everything in her dress is going to blow—- BOOM!—– and spill all over the table”.

Loren went on to explain that even though she was caught smiling or having a good time with Mansfield later in the evening, her mind was always on that dress. “No, no. Well, there may be other photos, but this is the picture. This is the one that shows how it was. This is the only picture”. The photo card is in VERY FINE condition with minor wear. I’ve attached a image of actresses, Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara emulating the infamous shot on an episode of Modern Family (it is only for reference use).
