This is a original circa 1958, 8 x 10 inch publicity portrait of 26 year old, ELIZABETH TAYLOR in a smoldering negligee view as Maggie the Cat. Publicity for MGM’s toned down film adaptation to the Tennessee Williams Pulitzer Prize winning play, “CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF”. The film had an outstanding cast of actors including, Paul Newman, Elizabeth Taylor and Burl Ives to name a few. With brilliant direction from Richard Brooks the film was highly acclaimed by critics and received several Academy Award nominations including, Best Picture, Best Actor (Paul Newman), Best Actress (Elizabeth Taylor), and Best Director (Richard Brooks). It also received nominations for Best Cinematography, Color (William Daniels) and Best Writing, Screenplay based on material from another medium. Unfortunately, the film didn’t win any Oscars due mostly to it’s controversial social themes for the era. The photo is in EXCELLENT condition with minor wear. ICONIC IMAGE!
