Description

This is a RARE original 8 x 10 inch candid portrait of blonde bombshell, MARILYN MONROE at her absolute zenith, filming on-location for what is perhaps the most famous scene in movie history. This stunning image was taken by photographer, PHIL BURCHMAN. Publicity for the 20th Century Fox film, “THE SEVEN YEAR ITCH”. Still Number 4169-2 (the correct still number for this series of publicity shots). On Sept.15, 1954 at approximately 1 AM, Marilyn Monroe, Tom Ewell, Billy Wilder and the Production Crew assembled at Lexington and 52nd Street in New York City to film a scene in which Monroe, clad in the white Travilla Cocktail Dress enjoys the exhilarating rush of wind by standing over a subway grate as the subway train below passes by. There were 200 photographers and a huge crowd of fans present to witness the famous film shoot. Some of the most iconic photographs were taken during that night of filming which resulted in a huge media campaign to publicize the film. Ironically, Monroe’s presence caused ciaos and confusion during filming which resulted in most of the footage shot that night could not be used, so Director Billy Wilder and Company had to re-shoot the moment on a set at 20th Century Fox Studio’s. The photo is in VERY FINE condition with minor wear. ICONIC IMAGE! I do combine shipping on multiple items. Shipping in Canada and the USA is 12.00.
